  • 1. Gwitna’q (Go By Canoe)

    Miawpukek First Nation in Newfoundland is reviving the tradition of birchbark canoe–building. It’s a way for the community connect to the past and ensure their culture survives.

  • 2. niKet (Food)

    Indigenous researchers Max Liboiron and Liz Pijogge work together in St. John’s and Nain (Labrador), to study threats to food security and food sovereignty around traditional Inuit food sources.

    Kenneth "Mutchie" Bennet has studied traditional Mi’kmaw medicine for many years. Now, he’s looking to pass on that knowledge to Bobby White, to ensure it’s carried to the next generation.
